Not every one of us fall sick, neither do we react to diseases the same way. The way everybody resists to diseases is based on how strong is our body’s defence mechanism, also known as Immune system. This can be natural or acquired through vaccines. Immune system described as host defence system comprising of many biological structures and processes within an organism that protects against diseases. Disorder of this immune system can result in autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases and cancer. Immuno-deficiency can either result from genetic disease or acquired condition like HIV/AIDS or use of immunosuppressive medication. In contrast, autoimmunity results from a hyperactive immune system attacking body’s normal tissues e.g. in diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes mellitus type 1 etc.
In addition to the above stress, lifestyle also impacts on your body’s defence mechanism. Building immune system at early age is very much required. Starts from birth it is advised to breast feeding the baby at least for first 6months to provide immune supportive nutrition and antibodies.
